Julie MacDonald (Newport)

Julie MacDonald (Newport)

Quietly at PCH on March 25th, 2022 of Julie Laurene (Newport) MacDonald of Borden-Carleton, age 63. She gained her Angel wings while holding the hand of the greatest love of her life, her husband of 46 years Robert MacDonald, the one she would have wanted by her side as she went home to God.

She is survived by her children Mary MacDonald-Pickering of Borden-Carleton and Bobby (Shelley) MacDonald of South Melville. Also left behind to mourn are siblings Colleen Sudsbury, Grant (Rae-Anne) Newport, Debbie (late Jack) MacGuigan, and sibling in laws Trena (late Ron) Oakley, Mary (late Rick) Nelson, and Charlie (late Marilyn) MacDonald. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews mourning her passing.

Her greatest joys included her grandchildren Malcolm, Jack, Alice, Elisa, Landon, Milan, Hailey, AJ and great grandchildren Grayson and Gabby. Her face lit up when one of them walked into the room and especially when one of them gave her kisses.

Julie was predeceased by mother Ruby, father Revel, sisters Marilyn and Linda, brother Roger, mother-in-law Irene, father-in-law Jack, granddaughter Ella and many precious family felines she loved over the years.

Heaven would have seen one of the greatest reunions ever as Julie joined her sisters Marilyn and Linda and her mother Ruby for a great game of Yatzhee and some playful name-calling when one felt the other was cheating. And we take great comfort in knowing that she would have walked or danced her way there on healthy legs, breathing well.

Julie is proof that a quiet life still leaves such an impact and void in the world. Having battled health issues for most of her life, Julie still created a thousand memories including Ontario and Cabot Trail trips with her family, car hunting with her husband, playing cards with her sisters, looking for sales in every store she entered, scratching tickets, enjoying the sweetest desserts, hoarding anything that may be useful someday to someone, making her family and heath care workers smile at her humour, taking in "just one more" cat, touching a Beluga Whale, meeting Carroll Baker, hearing Charley Pride sing Crystal Chandelier and Kiss an Angel Good Morning live, Pizza and Chicken Wings nights, and watching murder mystery TV shows over and over again. So many wonderful memories.

Her family is strong because we watched her strength everyday as she fought to stay alive. A thousand and one times we prayed to God for one more day and a thousand times he answered our prayers. But even the strong have to rest at some time. There will be a forever void at every family gathering, every joyous and difficult time and at moments when the silence reminds us that she was there to fill it before.

Special thanks to the PCH staff, island EMS, Home Care workers and especially Kim and Margaret as they cared about Julie with so much love in her final years. God always put so many special people in Julie’s life. We are grateful for them all.
