J. Gerald Arsenault
It is with profound sadness that the family of J Gerald Arsenault announce his passing on May 13, 2023 at the age of 73. He will be missed by his wife of 53 years Sheila (nee MacLean), sons Randy and Greg (Sheri);  Sister Lillian Rogers and Sister-in-Law, Margaret Arsenault. He is predeceased by his parents Archie and Mary Arsenault, parents-in-law Jack and Joyce MacLean; Brothers; Ralph (Margaret), John (Debbie), Buddy (Mary), Robert, and Sister; Betty (Preston).  He is also survived by numerous Brothers and Sisters-in-Law; Carl MacLean (Phung- Deceased), Betty MacLean, Debbie Bridges (Doug), Sharon Griffen (Dave - Deceased), Blair Maclean (Debbie), Brant Maclean, Mona Meehan (Dave), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Gerald was born in Summerside on June 24, 1949 and grew up in Middleton, PEI. He graduated High School in 1967 and later went on to receive his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 1974. He worked in both private and public practice until his retirement from BDO in 2016. 
 
People who knew Gerald, knew they would always be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. You would often find him on the Golf Course with a Tim’s coffee in hand. He spent much of his time volunteering as a public speaker for various community organizations. 
 
He was an avid volunteer in the community offering his time to charities as well as lending his talent for public speaking. His willingness to help out, led him to be a member of the Unit 2 School Board, Treasurer of the RCAF Wing, The Summerside Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Foundation. He was both Treasurer and President of the Rotary Club  receiving the International Paul Harris fellowship in recognition of his years of service.
 
Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora with Visitation on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m.  Funeral Mass to be held at St. Malachy's Roman Catholic Church, Kinkora on Thursday,  May 18 at 10:30 a.m.
 
Donations in Gerald’s memory can be made to the Somerset Manor Equipment Fund, St. Malachy’s Cemetery Fund, or the PEI Alzheimer’s Society.
